Guest guest
JoAnn - Do you take your portable oxygen? I go to a movie almost every week. My husband, unlike many others, is a movie guy. He never had a night out with the guys, but insisted on a movie day / night with the family. We go to matinees to keep the cost down. My kids have always loved it (still do) and we often go to and Noble for coffee afterwards. I take my 'B' size tank with the pulse delivery system. It fits real nicely in my back pack that has the handle on the top. I carry it with my purse strap in my hand and put it between my legs in front of me if I don't have an empty seat next to me. My O2 drops only when I move. While seated, my sat level is " normal " . I have my oximeter in the side pouch and don't disconnect until my O2 is back to normal (even with the O2 it will drop to 90-92 or lower depending on how far I walk and how fast I walk). I hook up again just as it gets close to the end of the movie because my husband is one of those who likes to " beat the rush " . I hope you can find a way to enjoy what you like. This disease took my swimming from me. I can do it, just haven't found a facility that will accept my O2 tank. I just do shallow end water aerobics now at a slower pace. No more lap swims or deep water aerobics (I used to do hour sessions). Saw it as a Sneak Preview, was told that we were the only state to get the preview, it doesn't come out until Friday. Very good movie, I won't spoil it for anyone going to see it. I stayed awake the whole movie, I usually fall asleep in movies. > My daughter likes to sit in the top row of the theatre. This was the first time I went to a movie since I went on o2. She went in before me, and sits at the top. By the time I got up to where she was sitting I could hardly breathe, I sat there almost gasping for breathe. I guess next time I go to the movie I will sit down front by myself. Just another thing this disease has taken away from me. I HATE it. > > JoAnn MI 53 UIP 9/07 >
Guest guest
Hi Stefani Yes I took my o2 with me. I have size A tanks and size D and size E My company doesn't have B or C's I took my A on pulse when I know I am going to be gone a long time I take my D. I used my A to walk into the theatre and to my seat then I turned it off until after the movie was over, then I turned it back on. I think I would like to try liquid o2, once I getted setteled with my new Dr. I am going to ask him about switching. Have you ever had liquid? I spend a lot of time in my car, getting in and out and I want something smaller. Well gotta go for now JoAnn MI 53 UIP 9/07 > > > > Went to see this movie tonite. Guest guest
JoAnn - I do not have liquid, nor have I had any experience with it. Some of the other group members have, however. I use the pulse setting on mine as well. It is so funny. Here I had to BEG for smaller tanks. All they want to give you is the D and E size. I am still trying to get a pulse option for the 'D' size. I typically don't NEED continuous flow unless I am walking a great distance or exercising. Depending on the intensity of my workout, I use between 4-6 liters. I may need to consider liquid oxygen in the future. It seems to be one of the changing parameters of the disease. I just like not needing a liquid oxygen reservoir and having to be around when it is delivered. I think both Bruce and Beth have given out the watchword.... be ready to change as your disease changes. Flexibility and being abble to think out of the box come in very handy. Explore all of the options and pick the ones that work best for you.
