Guest guest
Hi There, I have inherited my mom's carpal tunnel hands. Right now I have tendonitis which makes doing lots of slicing and cutting and chopping painful and tiresome. I have an OLD food processor and we lost a part for it, so I'm on the hunt for a new food processor and need opinions. I want to preface that with the fact that I do own a VitaMix and there is so much I can do with that. I need a food processor mostly to slice up cabbage and zucchini and carrots. I do this alot in the course of the week. I'd love to be able to get a juicer attachment for it too. I would love to be able to stick a whole zucchini in it without having to cut it in half (a wide mouth shoot). A good size capacity would be good too as we are a family of 6. There are so many food processors out there and all sorts of prices. I'd rather hear your recommendations as to what has worked for you. I hope to take advantage of any Memorial Day sales this weekend. Thanks so much!!! Betty

Guest guest
Betty,I live in the UK so my model is slightly different (it is a 5200 and slightly bigger bowl volume, but only about 16 oz larger), but this is basically what I have only with the large mouth tube http://www.magimix.com/index.php?rid=3557 & cid=10362 & lg=3525I really like mine. It does a great job with large batches, very solid. It does need to be hand washed for best care. The bowls are really too large for top rack on my dishwasher. I was disappointed to learn that the midi bowl is used only for when you use slicing and grating disks and when you do use it for that, it sometimes spills into the lower main bowl (they are stacked when being used). I can use mine to make muffin dough -- 18 muffins at a time and I am sure it could do more. For just grating and slicing, have you considered a mandoline? I am like you and have a Vitamix -- great for smooth nut pancake batter or smoothies. Now that I think about it, I probably have too many gadgets in my kitchen! Although, not as many as I bet Marilyn does... ; )AmeliaTo: BTVC-SCD Sent: Thu, May 27, 2010 8:01:39 PMSubject: Help! Need Food Processor Opinions! I received a 14 cup Cuisinart as a gift for my birthday a year or so ago. Now that I'm beginning to get used to it, I like it quite a bit. But I will own that since there are only two of us here, that I often just slice and dice with a knife rather than have to wash a FP. I also have a Vitamix. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund Babette the Foundling Beagle
