Guest guest
I just got my Green Pasture Fermented CLO (yay!) and was wondering how much of it I should take daily. Or if it varies from person to person, what criteria I should use to determine how much I should take.I read somewhere on the Weston Price website that the general serving size is 1/2 tsp, but that people with active inflammation like us with IBD could take more than that with no bad effects, and possibly some good effects. I've just been taking 1/2 tsp a day, just because that's how often I remember, but I probably should take it twice on at least some days. Guest guest
Thanks Alyssa. I decided to start with your suggestion of 1/2 teaspoon - man - that was more than enough for me! I had a spoon of honey ready to chase down the oil - but all that did was make the honey taste fishy! ugh! Good thing water wasn't far. - Raj > > > I just got my Green Pasture Fermented CLO (yay!) and was wondering > > how much of it I should take daily. Guest guest
Heya Raj, > I just got my Green Pasture Fermented CLO (yay!) and was wondering how much of it I should take daily. Or if it varies from person to person, what criteria I should use to determine how much I should take. > > The " suggested serving size " in the Nutrition Facts says 2ml. But that means less than 1/2 teaspoon. Seems a little on the low size to me. Start on the suggested amount and see how you do. > Also, is there a time that its better to have CLO? After / with / before meals? Morning / Night / sometime in the middle of the day? You want to take fish oils that are for Vit D after foods preferably after you eat some kind of fat. Better absorbed. > I also remember reading somewhere that its best to take CLO with some vitamin E. Anyone have experience with this? I haven't heard of this. FCLO contains Vit E. Are you thinking perhaps of butter oil? > Sorry for the bombardment of questions but this is the first time I'm taking the liquid form of fish oils. That's what we're here for! Guest guest
Raj,I didn't want to admit to anyone, but I had the same reaction the both times I tried the FCO. I can't bring myself to take it again. I had been toying with the idea of making asian type savory smoothies and using the oil in it instead of the fish sauce, but haven't gotten the creative mind set to go there yet! ; )AmeliaTo: BTVC-SCD Sent: Thu, May 27, 2010 6:48:52 AMSubject: Re: Green Pasture CLO Thanks Alyssa. In my experiements, what I've found is the opposite to the honey: if I have a pickle handy to eat immediately it isn't so bad. This is the best thing I've found so far. Guest guest
Interesting idea .. I've been thinking about the Bubbies pickles - good reason to go get them. Jodi - I don't know where I heard that. Anyhow - I'll try it with some butter / ghee if that helps with the absorption. Thanks for the info! - Raj > > Thanks Alyssa. Guest guest
,Do you think a lemon or lime slice would work as well as a pickle? You know kind of how you chase a shot of tequila -- lick salt, take shot, bite lime? Hmmm, maybe I should keep the tequila in the equation too! ; )AmeliaTo: BTVC-SCD Sent: Thu, May 27, 2010 9:53:36 PMSubject: Re: Green Pasture CLO Thanks Alyssa. I've been thinking of trying other strong/sharp/sour type flavors. Maybe mustard, for example. I found sweet doing do it and liquid doesn't do it as you need something solid to sort of scrape the FCLO off. I'll try it with mustard on my meat loaf for dinner if I remember, and I think the pickle or lemon slice should counter the flavor and maybe that's acid enough to take the coating as well. Of course if you go to tequila you may not care a bit how the FLCO tastes! Maybe the dab of salt would help as well.
