Guest guest
i am keeping a detailed log of all foods consumed and for nights 1,2,3 i had broiled fish for dinner. first night salmon, second sea bass and third trout. i also had a few bites of hamburger nights 1 and 2. (side note, hadn't consumed red meat for over two years before day 1 scd). each of the first 3 nights about an hour after dinner i had brisk d. also through night and when i first woke up brisk d. on night 3 i decided to eliminate the burger bites bc i figured that was the problem but still had brisk d two hours after dinner and early in am. night 4 decided to eliminate fish and try ground turkey and chicken thigh instead. seems like eliminating fish worked because i did not go to the bathroom again until late morning of day 5. is it common for one's body to disagree with fish and have bathroom issues related to such a disagreement? i have heard of shelfish allergies and breathing problems associated, but never heard of bad gut reactions to normal fish. thoughts? Guest guest
During the intro phase, you may have lots of weird stuff going on. Down the line, you may retry fish and/or ground meat and not have a problem. Basically, if you do better with poultry right now, do that. You will probably experience a lot of die-off in the beginning no matter what you eat. Have you added yogurt yet? DCCC? Well, all I can say is that I sure can't get near fish! Right now, Memorial Day weekend in the USA, is my 28th anniversary of when my gut went nuts. Brisk D, as well as nausea, general malaise and a lot of general bodily pain, has been my reaction to even a tiny bite or two of fish. Needless to say I have only tested this infrequently! After I'd been on the diet a few months a friend whose DH does a lot of fishing gave me a piece of halibut from their fishing weekend at a very posh resort in British Columbia, where the fish is caught and kept on ice and the minute they get into the dock, their guides clean and hard freeze it and it's packed so it gets home still hard frozen. We figured this would eliminate any sloppy handling in the fish industry. I still got very sick from one bite. Fast forward until a week ago. I figured OK, ten months on SCD, I could try a bite again. It tasted good (this wasn't always the case). It was halibut, not salmon (which I've had food poisoning from a few times, so possible psychological reaction). There's good news and bad news. The digestive woes were less, just a sort of unsettled stomach and a few extra trips to the bathroom. That's the good news. The bad news was dramatic nightmares all night, waking late and very groggy and staying groggy headachy and achy and feeling terrible.... for exactly 24 hours. Then it lifted. My fish reactions have always been 24 hour reactions. Prior to this last time it's been pretty much indistinguishable from food poisoning only the fish was perfectly good except for me. I guess this is a little bit of improvement but it's going to be a long time until I test fish again. Maybe next year. So, yes, in answer to your question, one certainly can have reactions to normal fish!
Guest guest
i hope you are right bc i lvoe fish! i didnt think id ever have to give up sushi. i have introduced the yogurt. found that if i eat it alone and more than one tsp at a time and it kind of hurts my stomach. but if i eat it with soup or chx at lunch or after some breakfast i have no prolems. i am slowly adding more because it tastes so good. cant wait to add vanilla and honey and eat as snack! > > > >> > >> > >> i am keeping a detailed log of all foods consumed and for nights 1,2,3 i > >> had broiled fish for dinner. first night salmon, second sea bass and third > >> trout. i also had a few bites of hamburger nights 1 and 2.
