Re:Messed up! Ate breaded chicken

I have been on SCD since 4/21/10. I got through the die-off period

and was feeling pretty good for a few days, starting to get back to

some light gardening and walking a tiny bit, etc. My brain seemed to

be clearing up some, too. Then, I was in a situation where I made the

decision to eat a piece of chicken with breading (I picked most of

the breading off). I know better - not making excuses. There really

isn't a good reason other than I was very hungry and I wasn't in a

place to do anything differently. That was last Wednesday (5/19) and

I've had non-stop D w/blood since. I am missing work today (5/24)

because I'm too tired and dehydrated.

You poor thing! What an awful lesson to have learned the hard

way! My guess would be you are celiac or at least gluten intolerant.

The last time I had a colonoscopy the doc told me the least little

bit of gluten can really cause inflammation that lasts longer than

you would expect. As to what to do about it, exactly what are you

eating for Intro? Maybe we can make some suggestions here for you to

keep things super bland for you for awhile.

I've been thinking the same thing about celiac or gluten intolerance.

The only thing I really want is yogurt with a little honey. I've also been

eating eggs and cheddar cheese. I had some frozen cherries with yogurt last

night. I really only want yogurt, cheese, frozen cherries, and eggs, maybe a

little butter with the eggs. The higher fat foods seem to help me. Honey soothes

my stomach, too. The D seems to be getting better today, but the burning in my

stomach hasn't let up. I haven't had the burning since finishing the first week

or so... until I ate the chicken.

Thanks for the feedback. Definitely, a lesson learned.

I tried to post an answer and it was " lost " in the process. Hope I'm not repeat

posting...

I'm eating yogurt and honey, cheddar cheese, eggs, a little butter.I ate some

frozen cherries last night with yogurt. High fat seems to work well for me when

my stomach is burning, which started back up a few days ago when I ate the

chicken. I ate some dry curd cottage cheese earlier today. I really only want

cold foods right now. Thanks for your feedback.

Mara,

Point taken. I'm ordering the activated charcoal today! I'm still struggling.

Room in the RV isn't really an issue. Thankfully, it's big and I have lots of

cabinet space since there are few canned or boxed foods in there. (That must be

another benefit of SCD, huh? More cabinet space?) My problem is getting things

shipped. I live very remotely and don't have an acceptable physical address. I

have a PO box but most suppliers use UPS and don't ship to USPS boxes. I think

I've worked out a deal with the local health food store that I frequent. They

will allow me to order an item or two at a time (like the activated charcoal)

and have it shipped directly to them, and then I can pick it up there.

Thanks for explaining why and how the charcoal works.
