Guest guest
I too am recovering from biopsy.. First i had a bronchioscopy and they detected nodules, results came back inconclusive so then i had thorscopic lung biopsy and cancer was ruled out but ILP was diagnosed. Hope all turns out OK. Guest guest
Dave Sorry to hear of that news. They will need to look closely at the size, coloration, and shape to give you an opinion and decide if it just needs to be monitored or more needs to be done. While the first thing you think about is Cancer, most nodules are not cancerous. I suspect you may be referred to an Oncologist for tracking or further decisions. I'm not going to tell you not to worry because any of us would. I did read also that under 1 cm (which you are) is a good sign too on the likely success of treatment if it was Cancerous. But thats jumping the gun. I worried when I was told I had swollen lymph nodes in June 2007. But the oncologist soothed my worry and recommended monitoring and they've not grown. Had the largest ones been bigger they would have wanted to biopsy them. I didn't like the part about " too many to count " either. So worry until Wednesday and then you'll get more knowledge and a plan. We'll all be hoping for good information then to relieve you. > > Now after finally feelling a little better from my VATS biopsy 3 weeks ago that came back UIP there is another problem. On my follow up visit to the surgeon to get the stiches taken out they did a e-ray to make sure the lung was ok. Now they found a 9MM Nodule in my lung. Does anyone have any info on this or its possible cause. I went and had another cat scan today and will see the Pulm. Dr. on Wed, to discuss any findings. Cant I ever get a good news. > Please let me know what you think. Thanks, Dave UIP, 43 Miami >
Guest guest
Hi Dave Sounds like we are going through something very similar right now. I have been waiting and watching since April of a 8 mm nodule which is now about 2 cm. Because of my poor lung function, I am not a candidate for surgery. Last week I had a “super dimensional” bronchscopy which I understand is really advanced technology. Duke has “interventional pulmo docs” who do these specialized procedures. This procedure is not invasive –and only versed, fentanyl and lidocaine (sp?) as numbing and anesthetic agents were used. Side effects so far were a very sore throat for a day or so and more coughing. I have been told this nodule is very likely cancer and depending on what kind may respond to radiation, but until I know I can’t make a plan. I too have felt I must have really done something wrong to keep getting bad news upon bad news. I always enjoyed good health until 2.5 years ago and then it all went to sh--. I am awaiting the official results and keep reading the e-mails from this group. No one else “gets” it and sometimes I feel so jealous of people walking around and doing their thing that I could scream (and sometimes I do) I have been told that cancer is not uncommon with ILD and I recently read that women on hormone therapy are more likely to get lung cancer. I have been on HRT now for 10 years. Sue D. 63 yr old, Fibrotic NSIP dx 9/07, ? lung cancer 11/09, VA
