I'm new!!! I have IPF but so far haven't found a support group in the

Charlotte, NC area. Does anyone know of such a group in my area that I might

make contact with?

Have had IPF since 2006 and it seems to be getting worse, but my attitude

remains positive. Would just like to talk with others in my situation. Thanks!

Bill,

Welcome! I'm sorry you had reason to look for a group like this but since you did I'm glad we're here.

I live in Durham, NC. I belong to a new support group here in the triangle. We had our first meeting back in July and we're doing well and the group is growing. To the best of my knowledge we are the only pulmonary fibrosis support group in the state. We had several people from the Lumberton area south of Fayetteville visit our group in October with an eye towards starting a group of their own.

It's possible, I suppose that there's a group out there that we don't know about. The only things can suggest are things you've probably already done. Call the local pulmonologists offices and ask if they know about anything. Call your local hospitals and ask the same thing. You may find "Better Breathers" out there. Usually those groups are comprised of folks with COPD and emphysema things like that, though you may find the occasional pf patient.

Believe me I know how frustrating it is trying to find a support group. There are only few of us here who have a local one.

Please let me know if I can help you in any way.

Hi Bill....Welcome to the group!

It's difficult to find support groups for lung disease. I found a group through the local hospital here but they only meet on a quarterly basis, other than that group there are meetings in Seattle, but that would be a 1-2 hour commute for me.

I have found this on-line group to very supportive and specific to my disease IPF and I can talk to someone on a daily basis if I need too.
