Guest guest
When first diagnosed (march 06) i was referred to the transplant center just in case i would need one down the road the evaluation was done (aug 06) the results were too healthy for transplant, but would be a candidate if necessarry the transplant doc used to see me every 6 months, then it changed to every 2 or 3 months alternates with the pulmonary doc since their offices are next to each other, they discuss my case when necessary the point i am trying to make is that it is a good idea to go for a transplant consult as soon as possible get the eval so that you know if you would be a candidate and if there is a sudden change in your condition, you can be listed asap without having to go through the entire eval hope this makes sense Pink Joyce R (IPF 3/06) IFA 5/09 Pennsylvania Donate Life Listed 1/09 Inactive 4/09 www.transplantfund.org--- Subject: Re: Hey Terre - Update on my statusTo: Breathe-Support Date: Thursday, November 26, 2009, 10:29 AM DaveThe term thinking of a transplant can mean a lot of things. To someoneearly I think it can mean that one would consider it down the road, isgoing to start learning what they can about it, will check out possibletransplant centers, and while still healthy may even visit one to findout if they have any issues that need addressing before that time comes. While one won't go for listing early, that doesn't mean thinking can'tbe helpful. Just being aware of the logistics one would involve isimportant. For one who is outside the weight limits they would want, thesooner one can start losing the better for many reasons. For one withother conditions that may impact or at least need treatment andaddressing, they can work on that. I am personally not a transplantcandidate but I did and have thought about it and visited the nearesttransplant center and saw the doctors there a year and half ago.> > > > >> > > > >> > > > > Hello all> > > > > Â> > > > > Just wanted to let you know that tomorrow morning Dr. DanRose, President of the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation and Krysten Knievelwill be on the Doctor Radio Show being interviewed by Dr. Fred Feit onSirius and XM Satellite Radio -> > > > > Â> > > > > Wednesday November 25 6AM EST - 7AM EST> > > > > The show will air live on Sirius channel 114 and XM channel119.
