Guest guest
Gale, Everyone's O2 sat is lower while they are sleeping and immediately up awakening. It's because we breathe more shallowly while we are sleeping. It's not harmful for the average individual because the body needs less O2 while sleeping. If your sat is dropping under 90 and staying there while you are asleep you may need more oxygen overnight. Have you had an overnight oximeter done? That would give you the information you need. I sleep with a Cpap and have a normal sleep number now, but when I wake up my sat is low. I thought with 02 it would be good. Is a person's sat lower when awakening? Guest guest
Gale Your saturation does drop when asleep as you breathe slower. You need an overnight oximeter study. This is different from a sleep study and is done in your home just to measure saturation. > > Question-I have just started monitoring my Sats. Guest guest
Adrienne Yes, he does. But its a simple thing. Your oxygen provider will bring the equipment. You'll do it. They'll pick it up. Just tell your doctor that you've observed your oxygen rates when you wake and you want it. > > > > Question-I have just started monitoring my Sats.
