Guest guest
I made some goat yogurt and followed every direction for goat milk and starter. I let it ferment in my yogourmet for 29 hours and it is so watery. There is no thickness or consistency to it at all. Is this normal for goat yogurt or did I mess something up?Yep. Goat yogurt is like a yogurt drink. Every other person who makesit asks this exact question. Mara
Guest guest
Thanks Mara. Makes me feel better. What can I add for taste? And is there a special way to drain it and make it slightly thicker?__________________________________________________________________CDSCD 6 monthsLialda, PurinetholFreeda Vitamins, L. Guest guest
Thanks Mara. Makes me feel better. What can I add for taste? And is there a special way to drain it and make it slightly thicker?I use a piece of t-shirt material (clean) to drip my yogurt. It works much better than cheesecloth IMO, because it doesn't let half the yogurt slip through the holes and you can reuse it. Guest guest
You can let it drip in the normal way - I used to use double coffee filters - but because it is runnier, you may end up with less. If you like goatcheese, there's a recipe somewhere for turning it into a goat cheeselike object, simply by dripping it for hours and then continuing to do so with a weight on top. As for taste, people either decide they like it or not. I guess you are notadding fruit for the moment - but you could try vanilla or make it into a tatziki - with cucumbers and etc. Or add lemon. Guest guest
Well, I tried a 1/4 tsp of the yogurt and it ran right through me within an hour. I had 4 trips to the bathroom and it was very watery and even had tiny like dark green specs floating on top... what the heck is that?__________________________________________________________________CDSCD 6 monthsLialda, PurinetholFreeda Vitamins, L. Guest guest
,I think the green specs could be bacteria related. At least that is what some people have reported when either new to SCD or when starting a probiotic. It means that your gut flora is changing. If you have not had problems with dairy in the past, I would just suspect that it is the strong probiotic effect of the yogurt. Wait a few days and try an 1/8 tsp of yogurt and see what happens. I really do think it is die-off, mostly.AmeliaTo: BTVC-SCD Sent: Sun, April 25, 2010 12:55:00 AMSubject: Re: yogurt - did i make it wrong? Guest guest
I do too. When I went to the bathroom yesterday it came out a lot easier and fluffier than it has on weeks. But I have to go back to my food journal cause today was a different story due to what I ate yesterday. I'm going to try some more of the yogurt now.__________________________________________________________________CDSCD 6 monthsLialda, PurinetholFreeda Vitamins, L. Guest guest
I made my first batch of goat's milk yogurt, it was a little watery but pretty thick in the middle, good consistency, not very 'drink' like. Kinda tasted like cheese too. Does this mean I did something wrong? p.s. it's really helping great!!!! (knock on wood) :) :)maybe if I screwed it up, if I do better it will help more? Thanks! Guest guest
I use 1 ltr milk and 1ltr cream in my yogourmet maker and it turns out perfect nice and thick like proper yoghurt should be never had a problem doing it this way but i know not everyone likes using cream. The reason i use half cream is for the extra calories.... To: BTVC-SCD Sent: Mon, 26 April, 2010 15:11:39Subject: Re: yogurt - did i make it wrong?
