Guest guest
Pam, First of all calm down. I will bet that many of the calories in those cookies are from fat. Remember we don't absorb much of the fat. You will maximize your weight loss if you stay away from these thing, but it will not totally sabotage your weight loss to have some. Keep that in mind that you CAN have some of these things. If you keep thinking you are good or bad, you will be more drawn to binge. Have a few cookies and walk away. If a while later you want a few more, have them. You will be suprised the magic that leaves these foods when you legalize them. There are good books on this such as Overcoming Overeating, Seven Habits of Slim People, and Breaking Free. If you are really concerned, read some of these. They will help. Guest guest
Pam, I am so glad you posted this as I am having the same issue. Not with Girl Scout cookies, my cravings are not that specific. Sometimes its chocolate (which I hadn't experienced in months), other times its just standard issue junk (pretzels, popcorn etc.). This started for me about 3 weeks ago, which would bring us to approximately the same amount of time out from surgery. I recall seeing posts on this issue with the " surgery doesn't solve your problems....food issues, etc. " tone to it. That seems to make sense for me personally. It is sort of like a reality check for me, that this is a tool and the issues that got me to this place, have not gone away. I will probably always struggle with food to a degree and can only use this surgery as a the tool it was intended. It seems I have more guilt when I stray now because I know consuming an undesirable food choice will prevent me from getting what I need nutritionally, as I can only hold so much these days (thankfully). Just this morning I ate a huge corn muffin and then had guilt because I know it had absolutely no nutritional value in it, considering my protein needs are not being met daily. I was also surprised that I finished it, albeit the surprise of course occurred after the consumption! I am feeling very non-compliant and diet minded at the moment and I am not too thrilled about it. I look forward to the responses to your post, perhaps I can get off the guilts. Guest guest
Pam Since you came clean I am going to come clean.....I try and get all my protein for the day once I do all bets are off so that means I have a few olives, I have a few Rocher chocolates, I have cheese and my personal down fall salsa and chips I dont know why but I am addicted to the stuff I have compromised with myself and now add cheese (for the protein of course) but I dont think anyone here is perfect...The one thing I am becoming manical about is the protein intake after that I eat whatever I want....The other thing I have learned is the following: Once I make a food forbidden that is all I will want to eat, now if I tell myself you can have as much as you want and then go ahead and OD on it that pretty much takes care of the craving for a looooooooooooooooooooong time so maybe not calling them bad will help it seems to help me.....Hang in there kid you are doing great dont beat yourself up now! *hugs* Lisbeth pamjams2@... wrote: Hi All, I haven't posted in a while -- things have been a little crazy around here!! Guest guest
it's probably just a temporary craving thing. i get hit the week before my period and want chocolate or sweet/salty type snacks. sometimes i crave a particular thing really bad, so i get it and eat some, then the crave is satisfied for quite a long while. and those girl scout cookies are gonna be gone soon, with you and the family eating them. so unless you bought cases of the things, don't sweat it. eat your protein, then have a bloody cookie! mary y. > Hi All, > > I haven't posted in a while -- things have been a little crazy around here!! > Anyway, I have something that concerns me that I want to run past you all. > These past few days, I've been going a little crazy with eating " bad " things. > By bad things, I mean specifically Girl Scout cookies. Guest guest
Hey Guys, I had to change excuses several years ago, due to menopause, so now I just say I'm fond of the hormonal properties it emulates: the feeling of being newly in love!!!! Not to mention that it is totally delish!!! > In a message dated 10/22/01 10:53:29 PM Pacific Daylight Time, > sage@i... writes: > > > > Hmmmmmmmmm.
