Congratulations Chris!!

Is the insurance war over for you, or just the battle? Did you get

approved for the total DS or just part? If just partial, what part,

and you mentioned codes that helped get your approval. What codes

did Dr. Anthone use?

If I ever get the surgery, I want it on a Friday too, but I hope I am

knocked out for the weekend. When I had my kids, they were all born

on the weekend, and weekend TV was awful at that time. I don't know

if it is any better now since I don't watch, but there is always

something on cable I guess. I don't have cable either.

I am so genuinely glad that you have a surgery date! I wish

you the best of luck for your appeal and the actual surgery,

of course. I can't begin to tell you how much of a difference

your research and knowledge and patience in answering myriad

Help! I'm so discouraged! I just received word that I my appeal for

the BPD-DS is being denied. My next move is to do a corporate appeal to UPS

who my husband use to work for until late August (we are now on COBRA). I

am wondering if I will just be spinning my wheels, as I am guessing that UPS

corporate may not care about my cause, knowing that my husband is no longer

employed with the company. At any rate, I plan to send the appeal. Any

advice?

I pray that my husbands new company health insurance company plan will

pay for the BPD-DS. do you happen to know if there is a waiting

period for new insurance members with preexisting conditions? I am also

wondering if you would happen to know if my husbands new employer will be

informed about my request to have this type of surgery?! I am nervous about

them finding out about the surgery. I am not wanting my husband to cause

any ill will with his new employer. I am concerned that they might complain

about having to cover the expense for such an expensive procedure.

I am so discouraged with Aetna. They have approved the RNY, but I do

not want the RNY. My denial letter states that Aetna thinks that the BPD-DS

is still investigational. However, I found the names of 17 people who have

had the BPD-DS approved by Aetna. If they approve it for 17 people, it must

not be that investigational.....Could you please tell me how you were able

to convince Aetna to pay for all but 5 grand of your surgery?
