Guest guest
I was really touched by 's donation email. I have to tell you all that I think we sometimes forget that a little bit of money adds up. Last year, the RSS/SGA Convention Scholarship Fund had more than 100 people donate $25 or less -- but thanks to those donations, 5 different families got to attend the convention that would othewise not have been able to attend. Ideas?? My 7-almost-8-year-old son decided that he never played with his Brio trains anymore. So we posted an email out to friends, with a list of all the items -- letting the friends with younger boys know that we were donating the items to " MAGIC " if they wanted to buy them, they could write a donation check to MAGIC. A neighbor wrote our division as $250 check to the scholarship fund - - and I took Tyler out for ice cream and bought him a new book. He felt great about the whole thing, and it was a good learning experience. You may decide that your child doesn't need any more presents at birthday time, but let's say she is 10 and wants to have a sleepover anyway. We could MATCH your birthday child up with a scholarship child, with a description of the family. You could put a brief description in the party invitation, and the other kids could bring a donation instead of a gift, and the party could sponsor that child for the convention. Lots of different ideas. But overall, just keep in mind that EVERY LITTLE BIT COUNTS. AND, if you feel that you can not attend the convention without financial help and want to apply for a scholarship (which covers hotel for 3 nights and registration fees), you can contact our new scholarship program coordinator, Dayna, at daycarney@.... She is taking over for me, yahoo!!!!!
