Debbie & Pat,

Thanks for your responses. I called Zevex, & the lady I spoke to did not

recommend trying

to use the 1200mL bag in the mini-backpack, but I am going to try anyway. She

said it

would probably cause the pump to alarm. Debbie, you said the only problem you

have is

the weight of the bag, and that is the only thing I was worried about too. I

will be filling it

with 750 mL. is bigger than your kids (48 lbs.), but he also wears a

back

brace for kyphosis/scoliosis (Pat, you commented about Dr. H's concern about

this).

Pat, I called the formula company to find about hang time to prevent bacteria.

I explained

that I live in South Florida where it gets really hot, and I thought the

guidelines might be

different under those conditions. However, I was assured that the formula would

be safe

for 8-10 hours. I also asked about using an ice pack, and they did not

recommend this,

because having cold formula go directly into the stomach could cause problems.

Thinking

back, we did have this problem 2 years ago when we went camping when it was in

the low

30's. was on continuous overnight feedings & he was up retching all

night, not

able to tolerate the cold formula. I need to find out more about the prefilled

containers,

because they have a hang time of 48 hours.

is older & bigger than your children, so he needs a lot more calories.

He is

currently getting 1500 mL of Nutren 1.5 per day (for a total of 2250

calories/day). If he

was on 30 cal.oz. formula, he would need even more volume! Hopefully you won't

face

this issue when your kids are older. I hope your kids are able to get rid of

their g-tubes by

then!
