Guest guest
Hi – I joined recently, too. We’re waiting on our pre-auth from UHC --- I am anticipating them denying, then we will pay out of pocket and appeal. It stinks we have to go through these hoops. I think a couple people here had to appeal and will rely on them (and maybe you!) when that times comes for me. My son is 5 months old this weekend and I think by the end of the month we’ll have his StarBand. Welcome! Hi everyone! My son has positional plagiocephaly (looks like the pictures for brachio). I had been concerned about it since his 4 month ped. visit. She kept blowing it off. I tried sleep positioning with no success...the boy loves sleeping on his back! At his 6 mo well baby visit, I mentioned it again. The ped. said just put a hat on him or don't shave his head * & & ^^%*(( & !!!! I know from research that it is critical to treat within a certain time, so I took him to a specialist. As soon as he walked in he said, " you don't have to be a doc to see his head is as flat as a board " . So, now that he is 7.5 months old, he is going to have to wear a helmet for longer. They are quoting 3-6 months. I am soooo sad. Needless to say, our insurance does not cover it. So, we paid out of pocket. I have UHC, and I am going to try to appeal. Does anyone have any suggestions? I know they have sample letters at the Cappskid site. Anyhow, I am happy to find this group!!!

I hope you have since changed Pediatricians; a Doctor who is not willing to educate him/herself is a definite no no. We are all brought up to trust Doctors/Law Enforcement/Clergy. If you get just the least niggely doubt about any of them run the other way, your gut feeling is probably right. I just recently read a book called " Blind Eye " - as in turning a blind eye to a problem. The author is B. . It is simply shocking how the medical community protects their own. Thanks everyone, Heidrun Aiden's & Abbey's Grandma (Aiden will be 2 years on Nov 18th, how time flies!!!) > > Mom to: > > 5 ½ yrs old > > Maggie 22 months > > Will 5 months old, 9 mm asymmetry > > > > From: Plagiocephaly [mailto:Plagiocephaly ] > On Behalf Of eyeluvbuks > Sent: Tuesday, November 04, 2008 9:22 AM > Plagiocephaly > Subject: [sPAM] Just Joining.... > > > > Hi everyone!
