Guest guest
Hey Beth I agree, I can't quite grasp what surgery she really had. You'd think she would know for certain. It sounds to me like she had a distal RNY because she said she didn't have the duodenal switch and that her stoma may have stretched.. Or maybe she had some form of the BPD and her common channel was left too long. From my understanding of the BPD the common channel needs to be around 50cm because of the amount of food that can be ate. If it was left longer this would also explain weight gain. I would like to know how long her common channel is. Oh well, just my thoughts. Guest guest
" " " I have pretty much concluded that my weight > regain is partially " par for the course " as a 3+ > year RNY post-op, " " " Beth, ** I think what she was trying to say is her weight gain is **like** what is typically found in a person who is post 3+ yr. RNY. I still don't think she had the BPD/DS so she is not a good source of information as far as weight gain post DS. This is definitely misleading and should be brought to the attention of the members of the message board she is on. So many people depend on the information on these message boards as well as other resources to make life altering choices on. MOre of my two cents. BE HAPPY --- beth ferro wrote: > > What I don't understand is: She states that she had > the distal bypass with BPD, and then says she's a 3+ > year RNY post op. Isn't this misleading? Guest guest
It sounds to me like a distal RNY rather than the Scopinaro procedure. Both procedures technically involve Biliopancratic diversion, but the Scopinaro procedure relies on greater malabsorption and has a much larger stomach. The distal RNY is usually less malabsorptive (longer common channel) and still depends on the restrictive portion.
