Guest guest
I not only got denied, but they kicked me on the arse on the way out the door. They really were not impressed with the fact that I started the process prior to this new " rule " . They also could care less that I had done a liquid fast in the past, because of course, I had not done Dr. Saxtons' liquid fast. They also weren't impressed that I have mafia in my family...(I just threw that in for shits and giggles). Oh, and so as not to start at the bottom, it was the Director who left his boot mark on my most ample rump! I do think you would be impressed with the little bald dolly i made of him with all the pins sticking in! So, right now I am scouring the web for any info I can lay my hands on regarding liquid fasts as well as begging folks for copies of their LOMN or appeals. Please, for anyone who would like to help a poor old fat lady go to DS camp, send your ideas, suggestions, citations, or copies of letters to the above listed email addy! In advance, I thank you all for your support and the laughter for when I take myself too seriously! Guest guest
Theresa, This is anecdotal, I know. In the mid-'80's, I went on OptiFast liquid fast for 5.5 months and lost 110 pounds. I started out at about 325 and got down to 215. In the next three years, or so, I gained it all back, though I was quite careful of what and how and when I ate. By 2001, I had gained to over 375 pounds. Almost six months post-op from the DS, I am hovering over 300 pounds, hoping to break through the " barrier " this weekend so that I may start the descent back down to 215 once again. Guest guest
Hi Chris I don't have literature but I went on the FAST diet. In 1990 to 1991 I drank liquid and ate NO FOOD. Medically supervised. I went from 276 to 173. It took a year. I now weigh 320. It was fine as long as I drank my meals. We even went through extensive classes on how to eat properly. When I went back on food, it all went uphill. Now that I need that documentation, the hospital had destroyed all records of that medically supervised diet. Guest guest
You can go to the National Library of Medicine's PubMed database at: http://www.pubmed.gov to search for medical literature. The medical term for liquid fasting is " very low calorie diet " or " vlcd " . Suggested searches are: very low calorie diet* or vlcd vlcd vlcd and obesity A quick perusal shows a shocking (NOT!) lack of long-term studies. Go figure. Good Luck,
