Guest guest
Joan There are also some great pillows available to help sleep on your side with CPAP. Sher purchased one she loves. Finding the mask that works for you can be challenging. was fortunate in that the sleep center brought her 14 on her second night of testing to try. I think she tried on around 5 or 6 before selecting the blue gel mask. She's now used it since with no problems. > > Hi all - > > I have a CPAP with a humidifier, but I'm wondering if I can bypass that one and just use the humidifier on the O2 concnetrator??? And FYI, there is a CPAP 'mask' that is made for people who sleep on their sides...it is a small 'bar' made of a very soft plastic-sort of material that allows it to move from side-to-side w/o dislocating the nose-piece. It has been great for me. > > And about those nasty spills, Joyce and Beverly...I guess my Mom didn't name me Grace for a reason...I have bad vision (legally blind w/o my glasses...little to no depth perception) and recently, I've become more 'wobbly'. When I lived in NC, we had an alarm system on the house, and it came with one of the small 'fob-controller' you can put in a pocket or on a ribbon or leather piece around your neck. I had a bad spill going outside to let the dogs out...I was alone at the time, and it had snowed and melted and then iced again (I'm not used to cold weather :<) Well I fell hard and knocked the breath out of myself, had a bunch of bruises and sore places...and DIDN'T have my alarm on me. Then, after I was diagnosed w/Severe Osteoporisis last year, I've been as careful as I can be. I now live in northern CA and need to get one of those that you can subscribe to for about $30/mo. > > Cheers to all - > > Joan M, in N. Guest guest
Joan, I was thinking about the ones that cost $35 a month here. I fell on the ice last year before I was dx with PF. I had the biggest black eye. I had never had one before so I took pictures.I wish my husband had of been given a better mask or whatever for his sleep apnea. He didn't use his and one evening he was riding in the car with our son and he fell asleep and didn't wake up. I t was a terrible think for our son. If he had been better fitted maybe he woulde have used itBeverley Joy,71, UIP,NSIP 1-09,Diabetes,Sjogren's,Fibromyalgia IdahoSubject: CPAPs and FallsTo: Breathe-Support Date: Saturday, October 3, 2009, 7:07 PM Hi all - I have a CPAP with a humidifier, but I'm wondering if I can bypass that one and just use the humidifier on the O2 concnetrator? ?? Guest guest
Hi Joan, I " bypass " my humidifier every summer - sort of - Being in AZ I can't stand the warm humid air during the summer. I do have the humidifier on my concentrator that bleeds into the mask so I simply do not turn the humidifier on. I do fill it with water and between the two the air is moist enough, just not warm. Then in the winter I start turning it on again. My cpap is set at 16 and I use a Fisher Paykel 432 slim mask. I really like it. Guest guest
oh yeah I sleep on my side also, the fisher paykel has slides of a kind so the mask doesn't shift.
