Tulsa - Hangar/OKC vs. CT/Dallas

Hello. I am new and my daughter is 6.5 mths old. She has only plagio, and

we've been referred to the CT office in Dallas. We've already completed the

Photostudy and are now waiting on insurance approval to start (Aetna PPO).

Problem is that CT is in Dallas/5 hours. Our PT says the only other place to go

is Hangar/OKC and that CT is the only REAL choice. Questions are: does anyone

know if CT/Dallas is really that much better than Hagar/OKC? The 5 hr drive

would be extremely hard with my two boys 5 and 3 by myself, but I'd do it if it

really made sense. Also, we were told we'd have to visit CT office every two

weeks, and possibly more for adjustments if needed. Is there a chance we'd have

fewer adjustments at CT than Hangar, so we'd not be traveling more than the

2x/month? Katelynn has about 12mm asymmetry, anyone know how long (approx.) she

might be in it? Thanks a million.

Hi! My daughter graduated from CT-Dallas on June 7th (her therapist was Celeste). We checked out the Hanger-Arlington before going to CT-Dallas because our insurance wouldn't cover any CT but would 60% of Hanger. We were appalled at the lack of customer service and the bad referrals. The overall opinion we discovered was that if you have a choice, CT is the BEST and leader in the industry for infants. My daughter had plagio with an asymmetry of about 13 (I think), were were quoted an estimate of 13-15 weeks and she was out in 7 weeks. Her head is gorgeous! She was 5 months when we got her DOC band. Also, the staff at the CT-Dallas location are amazing. They are understanding, kind, helpful, always fabulous with your child and genuinely care. We feel it was the best choice and will sing CT-Dallas's praises forever.I hope this

helps you in your research gathering phase of your decision.Best Regards,Darcymom to Princess Olivia, 8 months, DOC band grad From: mccoycharlene <jcseth@...>Subject: Tulsa - Hangar/OKC vs. CT/DallasPlagiocephaly Date: Thursday, August 6, 2009, 10:17 PM

We also live in Tulsa and our daughter is about 3 weeks into her CT DOC band.

The trips to Dallas aren't fun but they are not nearly as bad as we thought they

would be. I'd agree with the other poster that the staff at CT is really great

and very accommodating to folks traveling from out of town. We are also seeing

a craniofacial plastic surgeon at Cook Childrens Hospital in Ft Worth (Dr

Hubli). We discussed the different options (DOC band, Star band, Hanger) and he

said there really is a difference in that CT specializes only in bands for

plagio/etc for kids - nothing else. Said if it was his kid and he had a choice,

hands down he'd go with CT.

Hope this helps. Rocky

We live in Tulsa, as well, and my son (7 months) has been in his Hanger helmet

(from OKC) for 3 weeks. I would have preferred go to CT in Dallas, but my

husband and I both work full time and we just couldn't swing the travel unless

absolutely necessary. So far, I have been very pleased with Hanger. They are

extremely friendly, get you in and out quickly, and were very knowledgeable

about insurance (we got approved on the first try). I can already see pretty

significant results, although he will be measured tomorrow so we will see for

sure. His helmet fits great, and he hasn't had a single problem with it. OKC

is so easy because we can get there and back in half a business day. ,

the ortho, will fit him every 2 weeks at first unless his growth is slow, and

then she will move it back to 3 or 4 weeks. Again, I don't know what his

measurements are, but so far, I am happy with my decision.

That is great news. We haven't decided yet which way to go, but knowing

that OKC is working well for you is really encouraging. Do you know how

long he will be in it? And do you mind sharing if he is plagio only and his

level of asymmetry? Just trying to figure out how long it might be as

compared to the eight to twelve week estimate CT gave us.

Thanks so much for sharing!
