Guest guest
I know I'm missing some of the background of this but I just bought some farmers cheese from lifeway.net (http://www.lifeway.net/Products/Cheese/FarmerCheese/FarmerCheese.aspx) and it has 4 g of carbs. Did I miss something in the book that says that's too much?michelleFrom: Shay To: BTVC-SCD Sent: Sun, April 11, 2010 8:17:55 PMSubject: Re: Farmer Cheese Thank you - I'm learning From: Wizop Marilyn L. Guest guest
I too am interested in this debate as the Lifeway brand is the only thing I can get in my area (Missouri) at Whole Foods, and I have been using it in the cheesecake so far(breads when I get more advanced), and plan on making a mousse as soon as I can as well. Can others advise on the Lifeway brand? At one time, I thought when compared to the Friendship brand, they were the same...? Thanks. -Dana UC week 5 of SCD (still trying to get it right) > > total carb 4g serv size 2 Tbsp. > Too high a carb count. Should be zero. Not SCD-legal. Guest guest
I think there are different versions, made from full fat, low fat, etc., so possibly you have one with a different carb level than the one referenced here. In anyway, next time you are at the store, note all the particulars. Guest guest
so how much impact to healing is 4G carbs in the Lifeway brand vs. zero in the Friendship brand? Does anyone know? Lifeway brand is all I can find at Whole Foods (although next time I am there I will ask if the can order me the Friendship brand special). I (and possibly others) may have been mislead by a YouTube video on DCCC/Farmer's Cheese when searching for " where to buy " " what is this product " upon starting SCD: :-( I wish there was a way to order Lifeway brand, but it goes through distributors only, so I am at the mercy of my local Whole Foods vendor and if they will be able to order the Friendship Dairy brand or not (i have seen other Friendship products on their shelves, but not the Farmers Cheese unfortunately, they seem to have a thing with Lifeway in my area). Glad at least I am finding this out sooner than later that my DCCC " staple " (aside from the dripped yogurt) appears to be illegal. Thanks for all the input. -Dana > > > > > I too am interested in this debate as the Lifeway brand is the only thing I can get in my area (Missouri) at Whole Foods, and I have been using it in the cheesecake so far(breads when I get more advanced), and plan on making a mousse as soon as I can as well. > > > > > > Can others advise on the Lifeway brand? Guest guest
WF will special order for you most of the time. See if they can get the 3lb. loaf so you can break it up and freeze it. If you get out too much, you can refreeze it. There are different types of Lifeway. I have found it locally with zero carbs, maybe get the specifics on it and ask for them to special order it. You could always drip the yogurt too. I love DCCC but it's getting too hard to find locally. Debbie 40 cd houston

All I can tell you is that I was told, over and over and over and over, that legal DCCC has 0 carbs. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund Babette the Foundling Beagle
