Are you planning to make goat milk yogurt or cow milk yogurt?

I dunno. I'm kind of scared at all of dairy considering the mental health issues I've been exhibiting that are sensitive to the SCD. was thinking of starting with goat's, although I have little faith in my ability to get the temperature right. Figure if that works, maybe try cow's later?

Thanks,On Sun, Apr 11, 2010 at 2:45 AM, Wizop Marilyn L. Alm wrote:

nutmilk is so unbelievably out of my league right now!!

It's actually simple to make. No need to be intimidated.

Depends on your budget - if you can afford it and have the space - the excalibur

dehydrator is the

yogurt maker of choice.

If you don't want to do a major purchase, the yogourmet yogurt maker

is next on the list:

Seriously though, can someone give me a tip on what the right thing is to buy to make yogurt if I don't have an oven light, or what the options are?I think some people have had success making a yogurt make by just putting some kind of light with a 40 or 60 watt bulb in a box. It would take some fiddling, but if you figured out the right setup, I think you could get it to stay consistently at the right temperature. You might have some luck looking around online, I know a lot of people have blogs and have tried this. , I haven't quite tried yoghurt yet, either. But I was

planning to see if I can use the oven the first time around and I think I

will do a trial run just with water in the jar and in the oven, and see

how the temps go before I try the milk. If that doesn't work I'll

try a trial run with the heating pad. I don't much want a yoghurt

maker until I see how I get along with the stuff.

I have little faith in my ability to get the

temperature right.

Um, question please. I read about the Yogourmet there, and it says

SCD and then it also says whoopee, it makes the yoghurt in 4.5

hours. Does it have a temperature gauge so we can make it slower,

our way?

Thanks. It sounds like it just depends. Like maybe on room temp or

something? I'm going to try water first!

It doesn't have a temperature gauge.

I have two Yogourmets and make 24 hour yogurt all the time. Some people find that they need a dimmer switch. I

don't.
