Guest guest
Kim, Thanks so much for the info!! So far, I have seen rates for as low at 119.00, but I haven't checked out the final cost with taxes. I will definitely keep that in mind. Did you find any good places to eat nearby?? We really enjoyed the area of Cornell and after spending 3wks there during Alyssa's G-tube surgery we really knew our way around. We are looking forward to the new waiting room and shorter wait for sure!! Thanks again, Dayna _____ From: Kacey171 Sent: Saturday, January 08, 2005 3:56 PM To: RSS-Support Subject: Re: Hey Kim C. Dayna, We stayed at the Mt. Sinai Guest Residence right across from the hospital. It is at 3 E. 101st St. (telephone # ). It was very convenient to the hospital & also inexpensive for NY. Their rooms are always the same price no matter what time of year you are there (which was good for us being there New Year's Eve), and they do not charge hotel taxes. We had the cheapest room available with 1 queen bed, tons of closet/drawer space, and a kitchen for $165/night with no taxes. The room was very clean & spacious, but the bathroom was small. There was also an option for 2 doubles for $180/night, and a suite (I think somewhere between $195 - $225/night). The building is very old with ancient elevators, but I was pleased with the room. Because you are not going at holiday time like I did, you may be able to find other hotels with comparable prices. I couldn't find anything under $300 for the time I was there. The fact that they don't charge hotel taxes is a big plus, because for the 3 nights we were there, we probably saved another $50 - $75. The only downside to the hotel is that it is not in the best neighborhood, which is only a concern if you are walking around there after dark. During the daytime, it is fine. I was by myself with & we were out late every night. We took the subway back to the hotel, and had to walk 5 blocks through an area that looked like project housing. I was a little nervous, but thankfully nothing happened to us. I'd recommend taking a cab back to the hotel at night. Other than that, I was pleased with the hotel. To get to Dr. Harbison, you need to enter the Faculty Practice building on 98th St., and I think she was on the 8th floor. I found this much easier to navigate then when she was at Cornell. Good luck, Kim C. > I saw that you were just recently in NY to see Dr. H. Can you tell me where > you stayed and if you liked it? Guest guest
Jodi, Do you know how long the cab ride is or the approximate price from the Milford?? I agree the rooms are like closets and we liked the Salisbury better. The rooms are a lot bigger and the have a continental breakfast that is great for $3! I just don't know how much the cab ride will be. We don't mind taking one, I just don't want to spend more to take a cab than if we had stayed closer! THANKS!! It is near the Museum of Natural History, I believe. The neighborhood is safe for the nighttime, too. I think, however, that the Milford Plaza is a great place to stay. It is in the best location, there is a lot to do near there and the hotel is clean and safe. The only problem is the size of the rooms. They look more like closets! No matter what, unless you stay at the Mt. Sinai place, you will have to take a taxi to get where to Dr. H. My preference is the Milford Plaza. I love Times Square and all that goes on around it. And I don't know how much the cab ride is, either. I don't usually pay attention to that when we go because my husband takes over. I'm sorry.... I'll ask when he wakes up. He is in a lot of pain today. I think he rebroke the ribs when he moved the wrong way this morning. Jodi Z _____
Guest guest
I we went to see dr.h once so far and stayed at the Hilton on Avenue of the Americas, its 1 or 2 blocks from Radio City and Rockefeller Center, Great food all around, Toys r us with carousel walking distance, about 10-15 blocks, 15 minute walk, shopping. anyway the stay was $295 for a room with 2 double beds. We bought a vacation package but you have to go to there presentation for timeshares, anyway 2 nights 3 days for $229, that's what we use next time we see the doctor. $10 for cab to Dr.H's office, about 10 minute ride. Hope this helps Re: Hey Kim C. > > > > > I don't know where the other hotel is, Dayna. And I don't know how > much the cab ride is, either.
