Guest guest
The reason most of us have gotten to the point of needing surgery is because dieting doesn't work. I would think as long as you are eating protein first, you should be fine. Skinny people don't avoid all junk food, they just eat in moderation. The surgery is forcing you to eat in moderation. If your weight is coming off, don't worry. Let the surgery do it's job. You can ruin the surgery by grazing all day long, but if you stick to meals and 1-2 snacks, you should be fine. From the food you described, sounds like you are doing just fine. Compare what you eat now with what you ate pre-op as far as quantities. For dinner tonight I had 1/2 piece of pizza and ate the cheese off the other half. Then I had some salad (which I always loved). I don't do well with drinking with a meal so I just stick to having water all evening long after my dinner settles. Don't stress, you are doing great! Kathy M. Guest guest
Hi: I am glad this subject has been brought up. I am getting nervous about my eating habits. I haven't changed much except quantity, and it's still working. (OR IS IT??) I had terrible habits prior to surgery. I literally ate no veggies or salads. I always had to take vitamins to make up for that. I ate a lot of fast foods, beef and carbs. Now as a post-op I still eat the same way except a lot less of it. I eat 4 pieces of very crisp bacon for breakfast everyday with a glass of OJ or a CIB. On weekends I have an egg with the bacon. I typically go out for lunch to a s or Sub place. I can eat 5 nuggets or a 1/2 philly cheese steak sandwich. I can eat a whole slice of pizza and the cheese off another one. I ususally take off a lot of the bread from sandwiches. For dinner last night I had about 4oz of NY strip steak, 1/2 baked potato and some onion rings. I always was a big meat eater, so getting in my protein isn't hard for me. I drink with my meals. Only un-sweetened tea or water. I do not drink anything carbonated. I try a little dessert if someone orders one. Just this week I started to crave chocolate so I bought Hersey mini bars. I ate three last night. I am 16 weeks out and have lost 65 lbs, but have another 125 to go. I feel great. I have more energy, my skin is clearer. Most days I can't believe how good I feel, especially since I had a complication at surgery. AM I FOOLING MYSELF? Can I sabotage this surgery? Do I need to start dieting? It is amazing to me that I can still have everything I like in moderation and lose this much weight. Do you think if I continue in this vein, I will not succeed? I appreciate your input Dr. 6/12/01 = 321 10/5/01 =
Guest guest
You are doing everything right. There is no need to change your eating habits, as long as you get your protein, supplements and don't make a habit of large amounts drinking regular soda or alcohol. Keep up the good work. You are doing just fine! You are getting in all your protein which is much more important and you are getting " some " veggies in your sandwiches. I eat more candy than you do and Im fine! Dont worry about it....hard to ever regain all the weight you have lost and will continue to lose..... Hugs, Judie
