Guest guest
Hi Guys! I have a question for g-tube parents. is on continuous feeds, and because of problems with hypo-g, we don't take him off feeds for more than 30 minutes at a stretch. If B's doing " nothing " , his BS doesn't drop as quickly as it does if he's active, but when he's active, he can drop as many as 30-40 BS points in 30 minutes, so we have to be careful. During the summer, due to much less clothing, if we wanted to take him in the sprinkler, or the pool, we would just unhook him right before we went in, and he could have a full 30 minutes of water fun. With winter here, we would LOVE to be able to take him out to play in the snow. Here's the problem. If we unhook the pump, and dress him in his snowsuit, and such, there's NO TIME left to play!! If we don't unhook him, his pump won't fit under his snowsuit, and formula gets too cold for his tummy. We've tried putting a hot pack in with the formula bag, and insulating the tubing, but by the time the formula gets through the exposed tube, it's too still too cold. Any thoughts or suggestions on what's worked for anyone else?? Thanks!! And hugs to all!!
