Guest guest
, That is really crummy! Poor guy, that must hurt! I'm sure it was no picnic for you either. I am wondering why he gets sick if he doesn't unhook the button? Does he unhook himself while the pump is still running? Has he previously used bolus's? We are just now starting to bolus our 3 yr old and I have to say it is wonderful. She hasn't been able to tolerate them up to now, and we still run her pump overnight, but they sure are easier to give during the day. We feel so lucky she can now tolerate them I sure hope he feels better soon, I'm sure he's pretty sore right now. We went to the city this morning and he had such a time. He is such a strong little boy and endured so much pain - both my husband and I had to hold him down as the nurse stretched his button spot out to get it go back in. What a pleasure b/c I really enjoyed the drive home while he screamed and cried. I am stuck between a double-edged sword. Over the past three weeks if he doesn't un-hook the button, he gets sick or now twice has pulled it out completely. I hate to complain, but the negatives are over-powering the postives. He hasn't gained anything from the feedings since this summer. I am thinking that maybe we should just give him a bolis. Thanks for listening. Guest guest
Hi michelle is he complaining its sore before he pulls it out!! I just mentioned Farrell valves to , but maybe you could try them to. I know someone on this listserve will know more about them than me, but it is basically an extra tube and bag that hangs just bellow the feed bag(doesnt go through the pump, if the stomach gets to full, the milk will divert up into this other bag till the stomach has empited a bit. I got diagrams of it off the internet,I know they are available in America, i had to make on from bits and pieces when we used it for liam(in australia) Let me know if you dont know what im talking about, or want to try it, Ill find the web site. Guest guest
Hi , Are you sure that 1) the button is the right size for him??? and 2) the ballon is properly inflating??? Maybe Colin- is just that much stronger than is, but as long as his balloon is properly inflated, and doesn't have a slow leak, there is no way he can pull his button out by himself. Not enough leverage. And with the way we secure his tube, even if his tube gets caught on something, it doesn't disturb the button, no matter how hard he pulls against it. I have no idea what we're going to do when he's potty trained because we secure his tube to his diaper! LOL Anyway, just my two cents, for what it's worth!
