Guest guest
I've gotten a few comments on my son's helmet-we've had it on for 7 weeks now. It was something I really dreaded beforehand too. However, we went with a dark blue helmet and I put his name on the front in red white & blue stickers. Every week we make a big deal of taking pictures and changing out the stickers on his helmet-Disney characters, froggies, puppies, Star Wars. The name and the stickers really encourage people to really look at him (and he's cute too!) It makes the helmet look different and its a GREAT psychological thing for Mommy to count down the weeks! Whenever a child asks, I tell them its a special hat he wears to round out his head. The parents usually just ignore it or do the double take. I did also have someone think I was an over protective mommy making him wear it in the stroller! Yesterday in a big box store an employee walked up to us and asked us a ton of questions about it. I'd much rather answer questions than listen to comments as we walk by. The only really negative was some foreign folks in an elevator who just STARED at him the entire time. It was creepy-and angering-but I think perhaps they don't have anything at all like that in Germany? Most people have been really nice. I just tell myself its a short period of time (6 months) and his head is rounding nicely. We go this week to have it measured for the first time, since we started at 20 mm!
