Guest guest
There are several areas I'm suspicious of. Should I start with those first or should I go in the order that the GFCFdiet suggests - casein, then gluten, then other suspicious things? I did an ATEC on my possibly PDD child, and his ATEC was 43. Not bad, but not great either. ;-) My NT son was 8. He sometimes has dark circles under his eyes, along with just being generally cranky, so I'm going to do him on the diet as well. (I want to know if his crankiness is diet-related or just him. <grin>) My 16mo has the dark circles as well. She is NT. Anyway, just needed some tips on getting started. It seems so overwhelming to think of ALL the possibilities out there!!! Guest guest
Hi Kirstin, Don't overwhelm yourself, start with removing the casein and do that for a few weeks. Don't forget cal/mag supplements. > There are several areas I'm suspicious of. Would I still need something if I substituted with soy milk or something? And if I just had them drink soy milk instead of cow's milk, could I possibly wean them onto it, like 25%, then 50%, then 75% soy milk so they get used to the flavor? My oldest and youngest are big milk drinkers (well, they enjoy it....they only drink about 16 oz. a day - they aren't drinking it all day long or anything). Guest guest
Kirstin, Sorry, I keep forgetting about soy because my son has sensitivities, he's on rice milk so we do need to supplement. I believe that most soy milk has calcium in it, and when I started switching I went 50/50 rice milk/milk until he got used to the new stuff. Weaning is a good idea so they don't get turned off. Our nutritionist suggested my son almost ,4yo, 45lb get about 700mg of calcium a day, so we get powdered stuff and add it to his rice milk. > , > > > Don't overwhelm yourself, start with removing the casein and do > that > > for a few weeks. Guest guest
, > Sorry, I keep forgetting about soy because my son has sensitivities, Yes, I'm hoping mine don't! :-P We've never done much with soy stuff (my oldest was on cow's milk formula and my other 2 were breastfed and OCCASIONALLY got cow's milk formula). > Our nutritionist suggested my son > almost ,4yo, 45lb get about 700mg of calcium a day, OK that's about how big my boys are - 4.5yo is right at 44-45 lbs. and 3yo is right at 40 I think. My 16mo is a shrimp though - I think she is only about 21-22 lbs. (have no idea what happened with her LOL!) Don't suppose you (or anyone else???) might know how much she might need? > so we get > powdered stuff and add it to his rice milk. Where can I get it? We live in a rural area in the south, so finding all these supplements and substitutes is going to be tough! :-( Love, Kirstin <><
