Guest guest
, my 10 yr old is mild aspergers and always a grumpy old man. Always confrontational, sensitive etc. Red ears, dark circles and other symptoms that dr's never could explain to me. He has obly been casein free 10 days now and already he is a happier kid (although I wonder if some of the supplements are making him hyper) and no spit which was constant. His ears have only been red twice so far, but it is his mood which is so much lighter, that is the biggest difference. I suggest starting with the dairy removal. Switching to spy milk took a 3 day adjustment period from him and by then I the crabbing about it stopped and I can't rave about the mood improvement enough. Good luck. Guest guest
Kirsten, You're right-at first it is overwhelming. but it does get easier with time. We've been casein free since July-This comes very easy now-the longer you do it you get to know exactly what's ok and what isn't. Gluten is a little tougher. I'd recommend starting by introducing a few items gfcf then gradually eliminate forbidden foods with replacements. IIt has taken me a long time to finally get organized and comfortable with it. A big, huge help was printing out the list from gfcfdiet.com and puting this in a binder. Then I requested all catalogs with GOOD gfcf products (Kinnickinnick, Miss Robens, Glutensolutions, etc.) Just food for thought: when I went gf I didn't even think about skin contact-playdough, shampoo, lotions, etc. This too is listed on the website. Hope this helps. If you want more info or an example of what we eat let me know. Kathy
