I just scheduled a colonoscopy, and was told to do the following prep:

Noon: Take 2 Dulcolax, then from 4-6p drink the miralax (I'll do as below w/ water instead of gatorade) and if I heard her correctly on the morning of the test a bottle of magnesium stearate.

Has anyone ever done the last part?

They also said to do a low-fiber diet for 2 days leading up to the prep.

Thanks,

Tasha

I had the same prep instructions. I didn't flavor the Miralax with anything, just used water. Personally, I found it to be my easiest prep ever. The only problem I had was a little pain because the large volume of liquid got backed up behind my stricture (the prep was for surgery to remove said stricture).I drank apple cider, grape juice jello, and tea with honey on prep day as well.Good luck!HollyCrohn'sSCD 12/01/08>> I know this had been discussed many times, but I just got the instructions for the prep and want to know if it is legal and what to flavor it with...> > 238 gm bottle or miralax powder> 4 ducolax tablets (laxative)> >

Bisacodyl (Ducolax), which is often prescribed to " get you

moving " before the vile drink, contains FOUR illegals.

What I ended up using was Walgreen's Easy-Lax, in which the active

ingredient is Docusate Sodium, 100 mg. The Easy-Lax did have a small

amount of sorbitol, but I figured that was minor compared to lactose,

sugar, confectioner's sugar and croscarmellose sodium in the Bisacodyl.

The endoscopy nurse told me to take two of the Easy-Lax three hours

before I began taking the TriLyte.

Trilyte was what my gastro recommended. I would use the Easy-Lax. I

would also make sure you have plenty of electrolyte solution on

hand.

What time is your test scheduled for?

It is scheduled for 2:30pm.

I've never made the electrolyte solution - can you email the recipe?

So, I'm okay taking 2 easy-lax and then the miralax mixed w/ water? Any idea on the magnesium stearate they want me to take the morning of the test?

Thanks!

The Easy-Lax definitely loosened my gut!

I have not done the miralax, but if that's what your doc prescribed, that

sounds OK. I have never used magnesoum stearate the way it's being

suggested. Are you sure they aren't asking you to take magnesium

CITRATE?

Thanks, Marilyn. It might be magnesium citrate? I'll have to see when I get the instructions in the mail. Is mag citrate okay for us to take?

Well, magnesium citrate will clear the system, which is what we want for

a colonoscopy. Just check for illegals in the clean-out junk,

because it can affect you for weeks afterwards.
