I get nose bleeds when I take too much vitamin E or too much aspirin. I eat

Danactive, Activia or yogurt with my NAC to keep the stomach irritation down. I

have to use Mucinex from time to time to loosen the mucous and the nasal strips

when my sinuses act up. I wear the CPAP mask at night at that keeps my mouth

and nose moist, most of the time. I also drink tea and finds it will cut the

mucous as well. My sinus problems always get worse in the spring and fall. I am

not sure if it is mold or fungus, but figure it is something in the air. My

bloody nose problems subsided last week. I cut my vitamin E dose in half for

two days and it seemed to do the trick.

Hope this was helpful.

my nose. Does anyone else have this problem? Any solutions? Although it's been

Hey ny!

I was having that very same problem but then I started using the humidifier that comes with the oxigen machine, my doctor also prescribed Astelin (nasal spray) and Fluticasone propionate (nasal spray). My nose does not bleed as much because I don't have to blow my nose as often as before.

I forget sometimes that everyone doesn't have humidifiers on their

oxygen equipment. While some say they are needed at 5 lpm or above and

some say 3 lpm or above, all I can say is that personally I couldn't get

by without one at any liter flow. I also think it certainly would vary

by season. In the summer, it's easier for most. But when the heat inside

is turned on and the relative humidity of the house drops so, I have

problems without oxygen so I sure need a humidifier on my oxygen.

Wow, I just never thought of the problem as humidity. Utah is a very dry state,

compared to Minnesota (I lived there up until about 10 years ago). We have a

humidifier on our furnace and run it year round. We simply set the humidity

level higher for the winter. We had one in Minnesota as well, but it wasn't

even turned on until winter. I also have the humidifier on my concentrator and

my CPAP so the cause of nosebleeds usually lies in another direction. It is

hard to see that as a problem when it isn't a factor. So easy to forget. Like

I said, I only get 2-5 nosebleeds a year. I do keep the saline nasal spray

nearby for the occasional dryness or sore nose.

Hope you find some relief... not fun having them.

Hi ,

I learned years ago, traveling the desert SW where I now live, that the

prevention of this is so very easy. While you have your nasal passages clean

and moist, dip a q-tip in Vaseline, lip balm or similar product and coat the

inside of your nasal passages with it. The idea is to seal the moisture in and

dry air out. Within a day or two you will be in fine shape. You may need to do

this a couple of times a day.
