Guest guest
katherine, Do you have a glucometer?? You really need to check her sugar every hour, especially if she can't keep her head up i guarantee her sugar is in the 30's. Anything below 65 take her to the ER!!!! And make sure the ER knows that they can't give her glucagon shots because this will not work. We let our local ER discharge Madison so many times after hypoglycemic episodes that know we have bigger health problems. Don't let them tell you whjat t hey're gonna do you have to tell them what you want done. hope this helps Chrissy
Guest guest
Hi I wish there was more I can do but I really don't know what advice to give. If you need to just talk I am here. All I can say is try to just get her to sip every few minutes. Try getting her to sip through a straw. I'm thinking of you and Autumn. B 5 and Kelli 2 1/2 > > Hi. Guest guest
, Do you have the blue RSS pamphlet from MAGIC??? Under the " What should I do if I think my SGA child has RSS? " section in the pamphlet, there is a section labeled " Prevent hypoglycemia by: " Under this section it states " making prior arrangements with your doctor and local ER to start IV glucose if feeding is impossible " . I would say that Autumn is currently fitting under this directive. With the spilling of moderate to large amounts of ketones, I would take Autumn in to the ER, explain that hypoglycemia is part of RSS, and that the spilling of ketones is not acceptable for an RSS child, and that she needs to be admitted immediately. I would request the placement of a D10 IV, and have them monitor her BS and the spilling of ketones regularly, until she's eating again. It also states in the pamphlet that " A young SGA child should NEVER be fasted or kept NPO for more than 4 hours for ANY reasons without glucose-running IV " . So until Autumn fits that criteria, I would have them keep her in the hospital. Hope this helps! Guest guest
Autumn needs to be admitted now. Take her to the ER and insist on it. Her body has been taxed enough. Good luck. Jodi Z
