I had my psch evaluation where I live not in NYC. You need to find a

clinical psychologist. There were no " tests " for me just past diet history

questions, knowledge that I knew what the procedure was and reasons I wanted

the procedure done. They then sent me home with a MMPI which is a true/false

bubble in test which had questions like' " I feel tired all the time " those

type of things and you had to fill in either true or false. Then his office

does a write up (for a fee) and that's all. You may want to check with your

Dr. Because the Dr.'s at Mt Sinai usually like you to see their shrink. If

you have'nt had your pre-op visit yet you can can schedule an appt. with

their psychologist for the same day.

i just found the papers to fill out for her that I started back at the

beginning of the year. I am so glad that I followed my instincts when I

changed my mind. I was very uphappy with the responses from that

office...made me feel very inferior...so maybe I did good for once!!!

There are a few folks I think he wished he'd sent for one.

Whe the surgeon needs to know is what you expect this surgery to do

for you, how well you understand your lifetime obligation to your

health, and how competent you are to make the decision and follow

through.

But to find that you the surgeon has to listen, really listen--- not

just talk talk talk. Listening is one of Dr Welker's great skills.

He gets a strong sense of the person through the interview process.

I think he is considering starting to send folks for the psych eval

though.

My only evals of my family, friends, peers and colleagues are of

their taste in food. Wanna come for an eval? At Ivars?

LOL

Rip roarin laughter!!!!!!!!!! LOL I cant wait to meet you and I know you

will like Mike too.....hes every bit as funny as you are!

Yeah, Ivars it is......I cant wait cuz we have no Ivars over here.

Im glad to hear Dr Welker might require psych evaluations in the future as

there are some I can see who would greatly benefit from it. He has a

wonderful perception of people and their understanding of their expectations

and ability to follow thru what is important for them after this surgery.

Im glad I didnt need one though!

Hi,

I did not have Dr Gagner, but I had Dr Herron as my surgeon. They are

part of the same team. I did my psych evaulation the same day as my consult.

It was with their regular psych dr there at Mt Sinai, Dr Drooker. It

was a 1 hour consult and cost $200.00 cash. Just call surgical associates at

and they can give you his number. Then you call him and make

your appointment.

Hope this helps
