Guest guest
Amy - I am so glad I read your post. My son has been GFCF for about 3 weeks. I have been struggling with what snack foods I can send with my son that he will eat. I am told he is determined to get whatever the other kids have. I thought it was because I just have not yet found the snacks he likes. I now realize that it is because he wants his fix. This also encourages me to know this is a passing phase. Now I can relax and know whatever snack I send him will not be what he wants but it is not my fault! > Short story: > We had tried to take our son off gluten and casein twice before we > committed totally to the diet. We did not notice a significant change > either time. > We had his peptide levels tested and they were the highest the doc has > ever seen! Gluten tested at 185, and casein at " over 200. " They didn't > even give an exact measure for the casein, it was so high....and he was > mostly off casein at the time of the test! > Now I am beginning to see addict behaviors (we are about 2 months gfcf). > The other day, there were some leftover french fries from a fast food > restaurant left on the table from a lunch I had with my younger son. I > threw them away in the bottom of the garbage. My autistic son (age 8) > came in to the house from outside to go to the bathroom. On the way back > out the dining room sliding glass door, he must have smelled them. He is a kid where " out of sight, out of mind " usually holds true. > Poor kid was eating out of the trash!
