Hello ,For what it's worth here is my take on your HP/IPF dilemma. You are describing my own experience very closely. I was treated for asthma for about 4 years as my lungs filled and it became ever more difficult to breathe. My biopsy indicated that it may be HP after all those years. I did not have PF at first but I do now due to untreated HP. I have not had an antibody panel for HP but expect they will do one next month at National Jewish. I, too, would shut down if I went outside on a humid evening and all evenings in Tennessee are humid. My inhaler did little good but would squeak me through after 5 or 6 puffs. At first I could not even get any into my bronchi. By the time I was referred to an allergist and then

a pulmo, I was rattling so loud you could hear me in the next room and getting air in very small puffs. MOLD is what is in that humid air. I didn't know then what mold could do. If that is your problem you are looking at living in a very dry (free of irrigation) area for your life to be anything close to comfortable. It can often be stabilized if you remove the cause. I'm now in Utah but they water grass so heavily I still have problems. My two pulmos here (both gone now) didn't understand this disease either. Many just aren't interested in learning, sad to say. This group has given me my life back and I hope you stay tuned for all the knowledge available here. annRemember: Experience is simply the name

we give our mistakes... Wilde
