Guest guest
Thank you! Debbie,According to the GAPS book (Gut and Psychology Syndrome), you should, last thing before going to bed, after brushing your teeth and rinsing your mouth, open an acidophilus capsule and empty it onto your tongue and sort of hold it there letting it melt so to speak. My close friend tried this and it got rid of her thrush, but I suppose if there is a major yeast issue throughout the body, it might return easily. I've been using garlic, coconut and candidase but not getting really great results. So the day after I start it, my tongue has broken out into painful bumps. I did a google and on the Mayo Clinic site, it says unsweetened yogurt can help re-balance the flora but does nothing to heal the thrush. Anyone know if it helps get rid of it? Also, it says if you have trouble swallowing, it can go to your esophagus, stomach and to your intestines, etc. Further down, it says it's the same type of yeast as vaginal. Besides going to the green anti-yeast version of SCD, does it do any good to walk around with a spoonful of yogurt in my mouth? ;-) And any other info welcome. I feel hot and miserable--again. Guest guest
Debbie,BTW, take the epsom salt baths and/or lotion to help with die-off (that is probably behind the break-out on your tongue). And for yeast specifically, I have heard people in this group mention molybdenum is good for helping the body breakdown and excrete the yeast byproducts.AmeliaTo: BTVC-SCD Sent: Sat, May 8, 2010 1:17:25 AMSubject: Re: OT Oral Thrush Thank you! Guest guest
Debbie I had oral thrush when I started SCD, along with a lot of other symptoms to indicate I had a major candida overgrowth. The first dose of Diflucan sent me to the ER with a violent allergic reaction, so I couldn’t touch an antifungal. At the time I also couldn’t swallow yogurt or an Acidophilus supplement (took me 4 months on candida-elimination SCD before my immune system would accept the probiotic). I swished yogurt around my mouth several times a day, and used yogurt as a topical ointment for the candida-related rash. It helped my mouth a lot. My thrush disappeared after 3 weeks, and my mouth sores had improved greatly by 5 weeks. A couple of times a day, several hours after the yogurt swishing, I’d also use an antibacterial mouthwash and swish it for 30 seconds before spitting it out. My dentist recommended this, for my mouth and gum sores, and it helped as well. By swishing, I mean taking a teaspoon of yogurt and holding it in my mouth, swishing it around, for about 30 seconds, then spitting it out. I’d repeat the process again, sometimes for a third time. Then I wouldn’t drink anything for 30 minutes (which was hard for me!!) I’d repeat the process at least 3 times a day, sometimes four, in between my meals. My co-workers wondered what I was doing [grin]. Kim M. Guest guest
It's nice to read about someone getting over oral thrush which I've had for 3 years! BTW, even though I had taken it before without any problem, I also had a bad reaction to diflucan last September, although not an allergic reaction. It messed up my stomach so much I could barely eat for a week!
