Guest guest
Hi Tasha I had the same test and my bifidobacteria were low. Unfortunately bifidobacteria is SCD illegal so you will have to make a decision on that if your doctor wants to supplement it. Steve SCD-5mths > > I'm curious if anyone else w/ Crohn's or UC has had this test done? I have CD and just got my results back. It is the first time I've ever had it done. Some of my numbers were not in the 'normal' range - in particular, my lactobacilus and bifidobacterium counts were low, inflammation marker - way high, and one bile acid was low. Luckily, I have no parasites and my absorption was in the normal range. I'm currently on Asacol and LDN (I was hoping w/ the LDN that my inflammation counts would have been better). I'm speaking later today w/ my internist and making an appointment with my new GI doctor to see what we can do to get my system more in check and well. > > Anyone else able to share their findings or experience would be greatly appreciated! > > Thanks, Tasha > CD 7/03, SCD 6/04, LDN 6/09 - switched from pill to cream about 2 months ago (3.5mg) >
Guest guest
Steve, I thought about that as soon as I saw the results. I am not sure how I will proceed with that, I may try first supplementing the lactobacilus and see how I feel with just that. Curious for those that had this test - did anyone have inflammation markers that were in the normal range? Guest guest
Tasha, My guess would be your doctor didn't request the bacteria tests because the report typically shows everything they test and would indicate " none " , like you said no parasites were found. But you'd have to ask your doctor to be sure. We had this test done at the suggestion of our holistic MD and shared the results with the GI doctor, who said he was impressed and glad the other doctor did this. It actually provided the most helpful info in our case. But I don't think the GI is using the Genova tests as part of his regimen despite seeing their benefit. Guess it's not part of the standard protocol. Sally
