Guest guest
Hi Marilyn,I emailed the company and I am waiting for a response about any other ingredients. I am into bodybuilding and have been looking for a protein shake substitute for ever since I gave up my whey isolate. It has been hard trying to get in 100 g of protein per day on SCD. These liquid egg whites claim to be as smooth as drinking a glass of milk, and pack in 26 g of protein per 8 oz. with no fat or cholesterol. This would be convenient because I can just fill up a mug and go. I am just hoping that they will taste good.Agnes Has anyone ever tried these? I would highly recommend that you look into both ostrich and bison meat. http://www.bisoncentral.com/bison-cooking-health.php?c=67 & d=99 & a=1056 & w=2 & r=Y demonstrates that 3.5 ounces of bison has 28.44 grams of protein. Its fat content is minimal -- and in any case, you really ought to read the Weston Price information on healthy fats. http://www.birdbrainranch.com/nutrition.php shows that three ounces of ostrich has 22 grams of protein and minimal fat. The texture of uncooked egg whites as a drink would be... well, slimy comes to mind -- and eating large quantities of egg whites by themselves isn't good because uncooked egg white has avidin in it, which binds biotin, an important member of the B vitamin family. I make what I call " savory smoothies. " My base is some steamed, peeled zucchini, 6 ounces of tomato juice, a few pinches of whatever seasonings I feel like, and a 3-4 ounce chunk (chopped) of cooked red meat. Whir in blender, pour into a mug, and go. If you have your ingredients already cooked, making the smoothie is fast and easy. I am always bemused when people tell me that without protein shakes or other unbalanced diet schemes, they can't get enough protein on SCD. Our paleolithic ancestors were body builders and on the go in a fashion beyond our wildest dreams because they had to run down the protein before they could eat it. They didn't have protein powders and so forth -- and the human race sure hasn't gone extinct. SCD is intended to be a BALANCED lifestyle. Meat, vegetable, fruits, properly prepared yogurt, healthy fats, nuts. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund Babette the Foundling Beagle
