Guest guest
-- do we have to supplement iron?? Not every post-op BPD/DS patient has to supplement their iron. I am a 38 year old female and my iron levels are high. Therefore, I was instructed NOT to take any iron supplements. Jane J. 230/157 (-73lbs.) Guest guest
It depends, if you have a history of being anemic then you will proably need to supplement with DS. I have always been anemic, now I take iron, I would have had to take iron anyway has a pre-op. If you follow your surgeon's advice and eat 60-90 grams of protein you will absorb enough protein to be healthy. If you take your calcium and your vitamins you will be fine. My health is better today then ever because I do what I am suppose to do. My labs are perfect, that doesn't seem so sever to me.
