Guest guest
Hey , For supplements, I find the advice on pecanbread.com pretty good and a good place to start. I like what they say about multivitamin, fish oil, probiotic.Depending on your health status, what foods you are/are not able to eat, and what deficiencies/weaknesses/health problems you have, I would use that to evaluate whether or not to include other supplements, and which ones. For example: I have bad adrenals, so a b-complex is essential. Also, I have bad vitamin A deficiency, so I take that, and extra D (because you have to take extra D with A) For the C: 2nd time I did intro, I had bad C because it's so low fiber anyways. If you haven't already invested in them, glycerin suppositories can be a great help for short term roadbumps. Prune juice (I was not up to and afraid to mess with stewed prunes at that early stage) can be very helpful too. Eventually, when Marilyn suggested I try steamed zucchini I introduced that and it greatly improved my C problems. 1st time I did intro and first few stages I struggled with C much much worse, and relied real heavily on the suppositories, and they worked well for that. It's important [especially if you have a yeast problem] to keep things moving, so don't worry about over doing it with those. some times suppositories work better than others, sometimes prune juice works better. it depends. Also, if you haven't already, electrolyte drink is great and important.Just whatever you do with supplements, make sure their legal Best, Hey , I've been on the diet almost a year and went from D to C several times around. People told me the diet is sort of up and down in the first year, and it is for me, with steady improvement over time, thankfully. I found that increasing fruit and vegetables helps with the C, but too much makes things mushy. Kind of a balance here. I love the yogurt, and you should not need a supplemental probiotic with it, except acidophilus if you use GI prostart. I do use LDN and sulfasalazine. Add more cooked fruit and veggies to see if that will help. Go slowly with any new food. I never really used a lot of nut flour products, and nut butters are easier to tolerate. I still rely on bone broth soups to soothe the gut. I think by sticking with the diet and just hanging in through the cycles, things will hopefully improve. I do notice that I feel a lot better at a year than at 6 months. It is a long term commitment. Would anyone tell me what they think I should look into? I see lots of reference to supplements and don't know where I should start. I take cod liver oil but that's it. I've been reading on LDN. > > Should I try S. Boulardii? > > I'm confused and need guidance. I have sucky insurance and a useless gastro. I went to a natural doc but he wanted me to take probiotics with FOS (swore they would help me) and he wanted me to take aloe. You're who I rely on. > > And I'm not sure if I should go back on the asacol. I think it was helping or was it the diet? Now I'm off the asacol after a couple months and I and major C. But maybe that was me introducing almond flour and eating too much bread too soon. > > Thanks for any advice, > > UC 12/09 >
