Guest guest
Hi Everyone, I just had to post about my day! I went shopping with my daughter to celebrate something special in her life and my 8th month anniversary since my switch! And WOW was it fun!!! I almost fainted! I bought ALL mediums........WOW...I think I was in Jr. high the last time I wore a medium!!!! A few short months ago I was wearing a 28/30! ( and believe it or not today my still thinking big brain still started looking in the plus size section) I am tingly just thinking about the changes in me. I do not recognize me when I walk past a mirror!!! The best thing I bought today was a new purple winter coat in a medium! I almost can't wait for it to get cold now! I bought 2 new pair of jeans in a 14 too. I bought pair of tennis shoes, size 8 down from 9 before surgery! I can truly say it was the most have fun I have had shopping in years. And the best part is I didn't even get tired doing it! I owe so much to my ds friends, so many of you helped me get this far. I owe so much to my family for thier support, to the wonderful Dr. K and his staff and most of all to My God!!! This is all like a dream. Besides wearing smaller sizes I have gained so much energy and really gotten the vitality back in my life which had been missing for years. I do have a few bathroom issues but nothing I can't deal with. And it has been a small price for all the things I have gained back. I swim almost daily again now and I love working out. I even went jogging this week. That is something I have never even had a desire in the past to try. I have never had it so good. A dream come true..... in 8 short months........ what an understatement. I have been truely given a new lease on life!! For all those still fighting for the right to have surgery, keep up the fight. IT IS WORTH IT !!! I am feeling so Medium !!! LOL Deanna 300lbs bmi 50 day of surgery 02-15-01 178lbs. bmi 29 as I sit here now......8 months post op !!!!! (no longer obese.....simply over-weight!) Guest guest
Deanna, So thrilled for you! So many people think that losing all that weight is unmitigated bliss, but they don't realize how hard that first step into the " REGULAR " clothing departments is. As my therapist says, it's like having the doors to an exclusive club, from which you had always been barred, suddenly thrown open to you. It's a thrill, but unsettling as well. I'm not at that point just yet, but can empathize:yesterday I (who three months ago was wearing 3X's) wore a LARGE! Good luck to you and keep having fun!
