Guest guest
I have one of those pyrex carrying cases that keep food hot or cold. The only things I brought were grilled chicken breasts, boiled eggs, honey and homemade salad dressing. I froze all my chicken breats (about 5 pounds worth with the chicken breasts cut in half lengthwise). I also brought a very small cooler like for lunches that I could carry around. I stuffed the carrying case with as many frozen gel things as I could, my chicken breasts, eggs, honey and dressing. In mid-July leaving Baton Rouge, flying to Orlando (a 6+ hour process), everything was still frozen (actually the eggs froze too) when I got to my room. I had a mini fridge I put everything in. We did eat out twice. Disney is very accommodating and had the chef come out and talk to me. From what I brought, I'm sure you can tell I was still pretty much intro (I had started the diet that January). Worked great for me. I wasn't eating yogurt at the time, so I didn't worry about bringing it. If you don't want to worry about yogurt, get some Acidophilus pills from Lucyskitchen.com. Guest guest
Ditto to Misty's suggestions! I also find that frozen burgers and some packages of sliced cheese make the trip very nicely. Also ripe bananas and avocados. If you are eating yogurt and fruit sauces, you should send them through in your luggage (arguing with the TSA people will get you no where!). Put the yogurt in some kind of soft cooler (I love the patterned Thermos bags that Target sells!) in a sealed container and throw in some frozen bagged veggies as ice packs. The fruit sauces freeze great and you can put them in the same bag- they will probably still be frozen when you get there. Remember that cargo gets pretty cold! Oh, and if you carry on food, you should use the frozen veggie bags trick as your ice pack for that stuff too. I know someone mentioned that Blue Ice is now okay, but if TSA is in a bad mood, they are not going to care. Better safe than lose your sustenance for 4 days! Guest guest
Last year DH's niece brought her mother out to visit us. They have no SCD to worry about, just the usual silly TSA regulations. had printed them out from the website, and followed everything meticulously. So then they got to the airport and TSA objected to this, said you can't do that, etc. She replied that she was just doing what their website said was legal to do, and the guy puffed up his chest and said, " Lady I can make you do whatever I want to. " They had to hastily jam a lot of legal carryons into their bags to check. At 05:08 PM 4/21/2010, you wrote: >if TSA is in a bad mood, they are not going to >care. Guest guest
Do you already have ideas about what you want to bring? What are you eating at this point in the diet? And yes, as Marilyn asked, it would be helpful to know what kind of facilities you will have at your destination. It can be done--it just takes planning! > > Dear all, > > I need to travel for work.
