Guest guest
hi there - are you part of the pecanbread yahoo group too?? mostly kids over there but I have some thougts - stay away from banana - ignore the " binding " issue that everyone believes - they will feed his yeast and probably undo some of your work - i'd go berries - i stopped pears and apples but green cooked if you need them - no honey no high carb veges - and hopefully some thing to fight yeast - acidophilus, s boullardi, onions garlic etc eventually -maybe some nystatin from a doc -olive leaf extract, oil of oregano etc slowly and as per doc or other moms these are just some of the stuff dear son (5 years old) and I do for our yeast eileen 2 years 4 months son 8 months scd > > Hello to all groups trying to heal our loved ones or ourselves, forgive me if this topic is not directly related to the group but I am in need of guidance & opinions from those who have been in my shoes.... > > My 3 almost 4 year old who has autism & severe gut issues has been 100% SCD for 5 days and GFCFsoy/corn free for over a year. So way back when we were just starting dietary intervention I became familiar with a sorta stigma attached to Bananas. I heard that they make our ASD kids nuts or promote yeast or cause allergies, cravings or phenols/oxalate's etc..... On the alltess allergy panel my son has no allergy/sensitivity number next to banana, so what am i so afraid of???? > > REGRESSION! that's what.... > > We are still on stage 1 of SCD from the pecanbread.com website and bananas are on there, he is doing good with the cooked (i mean really cooked, like boiled for hours) pear sauce, so do I give it a go with the very ripe banana (lots of brown spots like elaine sais) or no??? > > I feel like for the first time in a while my son's behaviors are stable & good!!! Pooping is not great but better... At least no more watery diarrhea & Oliy/tar with undigested food particles. The last thing I want to do is jeopardize that, on the other hand he is getting bored with the limited/restricted foods & just 1 fruit. He still can't handle vegetables, too much ruffage i guess causes him loose stools, so shouldn't bananas be binding & good for him???? But will they cause negative behaviors is the other question??? > > Any and all suggestions would be big help, I know this is not a big deal to some people I mean they are just bananas right? But with our kids I think it's the little things that can make a huge difference either for better or worse. > > Thanks in advanced for any responses, > > MotherWarrior2J >
Guest guest
It's really something you'll just have to try. There are some kids at pecanbread who do great with them (they are a good source of carbs), while others don't do so well. Just make sure they aren't eaten to the exclusion of other foods, since your aim is a well-balanced diet.
