Guest guest
I use raw milk to make yogurt all the time. I love the thin layer of "yogurt butter" that ends up on the very top. I find that it's thicker than store bought whole milk, but that's because of the cream content. I've never drank the milk raw but I make smoothies out of the yogurt.-UC - 1+ yearsSCD - 11 months 100% strict and 4 months restricted diet.Colazol - 9 pills a day Prednisone 25mg entocort With vit E mixed inBack to intro/stage 1 for now.To: BTVC-SCD From: pam52@...Date: Sat, 15 May 2010 23:37:16 +0000Subject: raw milk yogurt Has anyone ever tried making yogurt with raw milk? I know that raw milk does not have the lactose as regular milk does, so it may not work, but I was just curious. Also, has anyone on this list ever been able to drink the raw milk with digestive problems. I tried to search for answers, but couldn't find any info in BTVC or Pecanbread. A few months ago, I bought some raw milk and eggs from a reliable source and made smoothies, which really seemed to soothe my GI tract. It didn't seem to pose any problems for me, so I just wanted to know if there is anyone else out there who has tried this. Thanks for any help. For SCD yogurt, we must pasteurize the milk first. After healing has occurred, we may consider the possibility of 24 hours raw yogurt, but it is not really recommended, because you don't know WHAT you may be fermenting for that 24 hours. Raw milk is highly recommended by Weston Price, but I would not recommend it until significant healing has taken place. I doubt I will ever choose to drink unfermented milk again -- and I used to love it. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund Babette the Foundling Beagle
