Guest guest
Marcia, My pulmonologist and my PCP both said yes to the Shingles Vaccine for me. I am taking prednisone and Imuran for 4 years now. They first had me tested to be certain that I had had chicken pox as a child...my mom did not remember ..If you did have chicken pox there is a strong likelihood that you could get Shingles. When the test came back positive for chicken pox...they both said yes! Ask you doctors, they may want you to have it..but of course it's totally in your control. That's one thing we all agree on...our medical decisions are OURS. We say yes or no to medications or treatments after we research them. Doctors should not dictate our care. So..because I've seen Shingles and the pain it causes..I wanted the vaccine with the doctors agreement. I do know shingles are miserable as I had them, and they were, but the instructions were not to get the vacine if immune suppressed.
