Guest guest
I have a question about Datreon's ketones. This morning he woke up with a fever of 99.9 and his blood sugar was 43, I was able to get that up to 116, He has been spilling a moderate amount of ketones today, but his blood sugar has been normal since this morning. So my question is, Is it a problem to spill ketones and have a normal blood sugar? Thanks for your help in advance! le mom to Datreon, RSS, 18months
Guest guest
Yes, the spilling of the ketones means that he doesn't have enough glycogen storage. He is at risk of dropping his blood sugar levels. Is he drinking but not eating (maybe drinking something like juice or Pedialyte which causes his blood sugar levels to stay in the normal range but cause ketone spilling?). Do you have a copy of the Dr. H letter about why these kids spill ketones? It explains things better. Let me know. He needs to eat some type of complex carbo very often -- goldfish or anything? Guest guest
I'm not sure how true it is but i work for a family doctor and one of my co-workers told me you spill keytones when you are dehydrated! So give him lots of fluid and see what happens chrissy mom to maddy 3 years
