Guest guest
BCBS definately varies. I got denied last week based on the exclusion BCBS of TX (Healthselect) has. It never even made it to a medical review, the secy just bounced it back as denied (they are instructed to do this.) They won't even let me appeal. I even talked to Walter Lindstrom and he said he has made several attempts with this company without any positive results. He actually told me that he could not ethically accept my case since he's pretty sure it would have a negative outcome. Kathie << I think insurance can be very different from state to state and company to company. I have BC/BS PPO of Michigan. I think it is called a managed plan as my company pays all the individual expenses and they just have BC/BS manage it. I don't know exactly how my surgeon submitted my surgery, but I don't think DS was ever used. I think it was coded as something along the lines of RNY. I'll check my records and see what they say. >>

The insurance companies might be watching and we already have enough trouble with them! Sheryl

My big concern is that there are no doctors in Texas who do the DS and I don't know how they will feel about me going from Texas to CA. Right now (for some reason) I have a good feeling about Dr. Keshishian and haven't checked out any other doctors. Jeanne TheNightOwl

There was a tiny little part of me that hoped that maybe, maybe I'd be the first one they'd approve. Not only for me, > but for all the others. Guest guest
I'm sorry, Shirley Ann, that you weren't approved. ( BC/BS has been a pain in the ass for a lot of people. Aetna is barely any better. I CAN vouch for Cigna PPO, though! Both Amy S. and I have Cigna PPO and were approved on the first try. Guest guest
Jeanne - United Health Care PPO approved for me to travel from Michigan to NY City - Mt. Sinai docs within a couple days. In fact, they suggested that I go there when a local surgeon that I was working with changed hospitals and United Health Care was not accepted at his new hospital. Good luck to you!!
