Not a good GI report for Abby

Well, I thought that the results of Abby's endoscopy would come back

normal and we would be down a doctor...I was definitely wrong on

that thought. The results came back today and Abby has a bacterial

infection in her small intestines that they do not know the cause

of. They are going to do more blood work and put her on two strong

antibiotics for 14 days. Following that they will do another

endoscopy to see how things look. The doctor is very surprised

especially since Abby just got off of antibiotics. This infection

they believe could be the root cause for her stomach flu (it was not

the normal stomach flu), or so we called it, her not eating again

even with periactin, and a few other things.

I am at the end of my rope. She dropped two pounds from the 'flu'

two weeks ago and she has maybe gained an ounce back. The good

thing is Abby does not know or even ask about taking any medicines,

she just does it. I know that will change as she gets older, but

for now I like the no questions. She cannot start her antibiotics

until at least Tuesday because she is having her second set of ear

tubes put in on Monday and all medications have to end tomorrow to

clean out her system.

That is all for now, I just needed to type and get it all out.

Thanks for listening!!

I am so sorry, but glad that they found out the possible root cause

for her GI issues. She wasn't diagnosed with h pylori was she? If

so, seems to be common among RSS/SGA kids. I understand about " one

more doctor. " I was venting to someone last night about how I just

wish this would all be over .... Jenn
