Even though 5.5 mm is not that significant, it sounds like you are not happy with his head shape. So, the big question is whether you want to risk regretting that you didn't do it. Personally, I would go through with it. wore hers for 6 months and it really went by fairly quickly.

The numbers are only the industry's attempt to provide some measurement and numbers to head shape. In the end, how the head looks is a gestalt and it seems like you understand that. I think that my 's numbers are worse than she actually looks.

so shall I band my 17 month old?

so the scan was done today and has 5.5mm asymmetry. So shall I have him go through 6 months of helmet at 17 months ( actually 14 mo adj because he was born at 26 weeks to his advantage for this purpose)for probably tiny or no improvement. The scan looks actually much better than what I see when I look at him. The big flat spot on the back is really not noticeable on the scan, I guess it's the perspective. Any word of advice would be welcome. again please: How bad of an asymmetry did Jake have when you started? How hard was it for him to wear the helmet at his age? Thank you

That's exactly it. i feel iwould regret it even more than I do now. I'm already beating myself up about it. I keep wishing i could go back in time and just ask for a referral. I can't believe they just kept telling me: tummy time only when awake and the poor guy who came out of the nicu at 35 weeks for the longest time just wanted to eat and sleep, sleep. We never did any PT, no special pillows. I just didn't have a clue and believed what they said and not like I didn't ask: every time I brought him in for something I would ask about it. I'm still so upset I need to do this at least. I can't wait for Monday so I can call, I don't think my husband can change my mind. Hopefully the little guy will cooperate. By the way we live in Tampa, Fl and it is hot and humid and it just started, what fun!

Thank you! I really appreciate your advice.
