Guest guest
Amy, Dr. H. does not like Pediasure because she said it has too much sugar. Our kids are already " at risk " for type 2 diabetes, so the extra sugar is not great. And it fills them up with " empty " calories. We have had to use Peptamen, Jr. with Max because of a milk and soy allergy, so I am not an expert on formulas. I know there are many out there, though, so perhaps others will recommend them. As for insurance, good luck getting them to pay! Even when Max was 100% tube fed and on this special formula that cost us $200/case, the insurance company would not pay. We sent in many appeals, got the doctor to write letters and even turned to our state senators and the insurance commissioner, but we got nowhere. Well, that is not totally true. At one point, we did have one insurance company that paid. I believe it was BCBS. Good luck with the surgery on Monday. I cannot believe how much you are taking on! You are pregnant, about to have a huge fundraiser and now the surgery. You go, girl! Jodi Z
Guest guest
Hi Amy, We use peptamen jr. Dr H doesn't like pediasure, she feels it is too high in sugar. Our insurance covers the formula. I get 5 cases at a time from the pharmacy for a $15 copay. Considering it is $150/case otherwise, it is definitely worth pursuing. If you have any other questions, feel free to contact me directly. Good luck, Judith, Steve, (RSS) and (non RSS) 5 year old twins
Guest guest
Colin is on Peptamen Jr. He was on Pediasure but it takes too long to digest. Your insurance company should have a durable medical goods provider that will provide the gtube supplies and formula. We have a 10% copay and end up paying around $150 a month out of pocket. The Peptamen jr. is almost $9 a can!! So even at 10% it adds up.
