Guest guest
I am sure Ogretta will answer your questions as well, but since I had the procedure in two steps I thought I would put my two cents in. The reason we both had the procedure in two steps is because we had high bmi's. Mine was 67 and Dr. Gagner felt it would be safer to do it this way. Then after 100 pound loss I had the second part. I wasn't given the option of having it all done at once, but then again I never asked. However, my roommate was given the option by Dr. Pomp to have her surgery in two steps or have it done open in one step. She chose to have it opened and it is working well for her. Both Ogretta and I had it done laproscopically. I am not sure about Ogretta, but I had to have approval for each surgery. I didn't expect that at all because I thought that if they approved part one then part 2 would naturally be approved. Didn't just want to have the stomach gastrectomy because the weight loss wasn't guaranteed. I have Blue Cross Blue Shield for hospitalization.
